Privacy Policy

This page explains how SUMIMAE (https://sumimae.com) handles information about its users. The site is designed to work without accounts, and it does not need information that identifies you personally.

Data that stays in your browser

Saved candidates, filter conditions, and display settings (theme, basemap, layer choices) are stored only in your browser’s localStorage. They are never sent to our servers, and you can delete them at any time through your browser’s settings. We set one cookie: pressing the language switch stores your choice (sumimae:lang, one year) so that a URL without a language prefix can send you to the right one. It is not used for analytics or advertising, and you can delete it from your browser.

Analytics

We use Vercel Analytics (Vercel Inc.) to understand how the site is used. It does not use cookies. What reaches the provider is: the page URL, the referring site, a region estimated from your IP address (country / prefecture / city level), and your device and browser type and version. We strip the query string from the URL before it is sent, so the conditions you set — budget, wards, stations, saved places — are not included.

We do not currently record which features you use (for example, which map layer you turned on). The code for it exists but is switched off; if we turn it on, we will update this page first, and it will never carry the content of your choices — no budget figures, no coordinates, no candidate names or notes.

Hosting and requests to external services

• The site is served by Vercel Inc. As part of serving pages, connection information such as IP addresses is processed as ordinary access logs.
• Map background tiles are loaded directly from OpenFreeMap and the Geospatial Information Authority of Japan (GSI). When the map is shown, your browser sends requests to their servers, so connection information reaches those providers.
• The data files themselves (prices, hazards, and so on) are served from this site and are not sent to third parties.

Feedback form

Feedback is collected through a Tally form. Along with what you write, the page URL and viewport size at the moment you opened the form are recorded, so we can reproduce what you were looking at. Entering your name or contact details is optional.

Advertising

This site currently serves no cookie-based advertising. If affiliate links (performance-based advertising) are added in the future, they will be labeled as advertising. See the advertising policy for details.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page.
